York Way Estate

City of London Corporation’s York Way Estate was undergoing significant renewal with new homes, new playspace and changes to car parking. Comm Comm UK helped residents access regular information about the process and day-to-day works to minimise impact on those living on the estate.

Our role:

  • Construction Communications.

Existing site:

  • Post-war housing estate, situated on the former site of the Metropolitan Cattle Market

  • Comprises of 275 flats across four blocks

  • Range of sizes, from studios to 3-beds.

Scheme deliverables:

  • 91 new homes for social rent across four buildings

  • New community centre

  • Extensive public realm improvements.

Communications undertaken:

  • Consultation with residents

  • Regular residents’ meetings

  • Events to gather feedback on important aspects, such as the construction management plan

  • Assistance in drafting a CMP

  • Arranging the Naming Consultation for the new buildings

  • Organising hoarding that showcases local residents’ artwork & history

  • Organising Topping Out ceremony

  • Organising site tours

  • Running and updating of project website

  • Liaising with Higgins Partnerships’ resident liaison officer (contractor)

  • Emails and newsletters to residents and key stakeholders.

Status of scheme:

  • Construction underway, expected completion in 2025.
